To know that I have the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing people as we tell this great story is truly humbling. I’m so excited. I’m so grateful. A POWERFUL STORY TAKES SHAPE

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and based on the bestselling novel by Tomi Adeyemi, the film tells a powerful story set in a mythical African kingdom.

Mbedu takes on the lead role of Zelie, a brave young woman determined to bring back magic that was taken from her people by the ruthless King Saran. Alongside her is Tosin Cole, who plays her older brother Tzain, a loyal and protective figure in her journey.

The royal side of the story is brought to life by Amandla Stenberg as Princess Amari, who chooses to stand against her father’s rule, and Damson Idris as Prince Inan, a complex character torn between duty and his conscience.

The film also features Viola Davis as Mama Agba, a wise and powerful mentor figure. This marks Mbedu’s second time working with Davis, adding even more depth and familiarity to their on-screen connection.
