6 May 2026 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) has provided an update on its challenge against the search and seizure conducted by the Hawks at the Association’s headquarters in Nasrec, in the south of Johannesburg, on Friday, 8 March 2024.
Contrary to misleading reports, the matter has not been dismissed. This matter was set down for 28 April 2026 and the Acting Deputy Judge President had allocated about four hours for it to be heard. But when the allocated Judge was reviewing the papers, he realised that this is an intricate matter that will require about two days to be heard.
Thereafter the matter was referred back to the Acting Deputy Judge President to make a special allocation for another date on an urgent basis. SAFA has consulted its legal representatives, and they have confirmed these facts.
We are awaiting communication from the Acting Judge President of the High Court, Gauteng Division, Johannesburg through our attorneys of record. We shall then inform the public accordingly.
