SAFA announces new appointments

9 May 2026 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed the appointment of Nombuso Maud Khumalo as head coach of the SAFA Girls’ High Performance Centre, and Matsobane Matsi as the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS) Project Lead.

Coach Maud holds a CAF A Coaching Licence and brings with her over 10 years of coaching experience, alongside an illustrious playing career as a former Banyana Banyana national team player. Her extensive coaching experience includes appointments as Interim Assistant Coach of the Senior Women’s National Team, Assistant Coach of the U17 Women’s National Team, Head Coach of the U20 Women’s National Team, Manager and Head Coach of the UP Hollywoodbets Women’s Team, as well as Head Coach of the Men’s Team at TUT. Coach Maud will report directly to SAFA Technical Director Molefi Ntseki.

Mr Matsi brings with him over seven years of experience as a SAFA Provincial Executive Officer and has previously held responsibilities such as Team Manager for the South African Under 17 Men’s National team at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Assistant General coordinator for CAF Champions League matches, Tournament director for the Kay Motsepe National championship, Project Manager for the Kay Motsepe Schools Cup, Provincial League’s coordinator (SASOL women’s League & ABC Motsepe League), Electoral Officer for SAFA regional associations, Tournament Director of the ABC Motsepe league playoffs, among others.

Mr Matsi will report directly to the SAFA Technical Director.
