‘Kaizer Chiefs will keep the coaches’ – Pirates legend

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi believes Kaizer Chiefs will keep Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze as coaches.

The duo took over from head coach Nasreddine Nabi back in September. Under their leadership, Amakhosi have secured a top-three finish in the Betway Premiership after struggling to break into the top eight for the last two seasons.

Speaking on Soccerbeat, Vilakazi said Kaizer Chiefs securing CAF Confederation Cup meant the coaches’ jobs were secured.

“They will keep them, I’m telling you. I said it before when coach Nabi went home to see his wife. I said these two coaches, if they continue winning, they [management] will rather say ‘let’s sit with them than have Nabi back’. I saw it coming,” the Pirates legend said.

“If we say we need a coach, these guys took us from number nine and put us third position.”

“Yes they did well compared to what happened last season. For me there are not coaches that will carry this team forward and challenge Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.”

Tso not convinced by Chiefs coaches

Ben Youssef and Kaze have secured CAF football next season, but have also finished the season trophyless, which will annoy many fans.

The Glamour Boys though, will take pride knowing that they took two points from Mamelodi Sundowns and also stole a point from archrivals Orlando Pirates.

With a strong finish to the season, it looks likely that Ben Youssef and Kaze will remain as coaches at Kaizer Chiefs in the coming months.

Last week, former Amakhosi head coach Muhsin Erugral pleaded with the club to retain Ben Youssef and Kaize. The Turkish tactician urged that stability was the key to the club’s revival and has called on management to not look elsewhere during pre-season.

Should Amakhosi keep the two coaches?
