Kaizer Chiefs have a number of players on the sideline as the Betway Premiership seasom comes to a close.
Against Sekhukhune United, the Glamour Boys were without Wandile Duba, Lebohang Maboe and Siphesihle Ndlovu. The trio have been instrumental this season for Amakhosi, helping them secure third spot in the Betway Premiership.
Speaking after the club’s 2-0 win over Sekhukhune United, Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef gave an update on why the trio were not part of the matchday squad.
“For Maboe, like I said, it was fatigue after the last game. We decided with the medical staff and with him to give him a rest in this game,” he said as per iDiski Times.
“Ndlovu, the problem is that he had four yellow cards. Duba is still injured, Shabalala is injured.
“We try to keep consistency in the team. But sometimes there is a risk of injury. So, we should make rotation.
“Like I said, a lot of times we discuss about the team or the player. We show that any player you ask him to come, he is ready to fight for the badge, for the team and for the fans.”
Kaizer Chiefs players facing injuries
Duba is expected to return to action before the season ends but that can’t be said for Mduduzi Shabalala, George Matlou and Zitha Kwinika. The three suffered season ending injuries and will only return to action during pre-season.
Having secured CAF Confederation Cup spot, Chiefs will now have their highest league finish in six years.
