Four Western Cape beaches land on world’s best beaches list

Four Western Cape beaches have made a huge splash on a major list.

Most recently, renowned beer brand Corona released the 2026 edition of their “Corona Beach 100” list. In it, they identified the best 100 beaches in the world for this year.

Let’s take a dive into the four beaches that are waving the South African flag high on this list!

WESTERN CAPE BEACHES MAKE WAVES

Judging on three key merits – scenic aesthetics, beachside culture and connection to nature – Corona’s beach-life experts classified all 100 featured beaches into three categories: “Beautiful Beach”, “Stunning Beach” and “Unforgettable Beach”, with the latter being the highest honour.

Of all the beaches located worldwide, four are located in the Western Cape. What’s more, one of them scored in the Unforgettable Beach category, while another made their first appearance on the list.

Behold, the quadruple threat and their respective rankings:

  • Boulders Beach – Stunning Beach
  • Camps Bay – Beautiful Beach
  • Kraalbaai Beach – Unforgettable Beach
  • Wilderness Beach – Stunning Beach

Kraalbaai Beach, found at West Coast National Park about 90 minutes north of Cape Town, is akin to a Mediterranean dreamscape.

Its lagoon-blue waters, white sands and the serene atmosphere it offers – amplified by the surrounding greenery – shoot it up to “Unforgettable Beach” status alongside 19 other global strands.

Wilderness Beach on the Garden Route makes its debut on the list for the first time, achieving an impressive “Stunning Beach” classification. And it’s well-earned, too: the warm, blue waters of the Indian Ocean hug the golden shore as if reaching out toward the cliffs and forest line.

BOULDERS, CAMPS BAY RULE CAPE TOWN’S SHORES

Boulders Beach, which was crowned the world’s most unique beach earlier this year, bears its “Stunning Beach” accolade with pride. It’s among Cape Town’s most beloved tourist destinations, thanks in part to its famous African penguin colony.

As for Camps Bay, this golden hour hotspot by the Atlantic Ocean earned a “Beautiful Beach” distinction.

For residents and international visitors alike, Camp Bays is ideal for swimming, sunbathing, selfie-taking and, naturally, watching the sun setting on the blue horizon.
