Nimbus the cat, known for predicting the winners of football matches across various tournaments, has delivered his verdict on the FIFA World Cup opening match between South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and Mexico.
The match will take place at the Mexico City Stadium on Thursday, 11 June.

In a video posted on its social media platforms, Nimbus the King, also known as Nimbus Pronos, was given the opportunity to predict the winner of the opening match of the FIFA World Cup.
The cat – which has millions of likes on TikTok – is given the option of Mexico, South Africa, or draw, with bowls of food placed in front of each.
The social media sensation casually walks over to Mexico’s bowl, revealing its decision.
Nimbus is credited with accurately predicting the winners of tournaments such as UEFA Champions League matches, Premier League games, AFCON fixtures, and other international games.

Closer to home, another animal oracle phenomenon, a rescue dassie called Nostradassie, has also predicted Mexico will trump Bafana Bafana.
The animal, whose name is Womble, from the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital, made its prediction in a video posted by radio station Hot 102.7.
HOW CAN BAFANA ADVANCE TO THE NEXT ROUND?
While the odds may be against them, Bafana Bafana’s path to getting out of the group stages and into the knockout stages is clear.
To advance to the next round, South Africa would have to finish in the top two places of Group A, which includes South Korea, Mexico and Czechia. Securing a third spot would also advance them, as eight of the best third-placed teams across all 12 groups will also advance to the Round of 32.
According to pundits, Bafana would need at least four points to progress out of the preliminary stage.
