Music superstar Naledi Aphiwe reflected on her mother’s memories after visiting her gravesite on 8 June. She took to Instagram and shared a series of photos taken at her mother’s resting place.
Naledi’s mother, Gugu Khumalo, sadly passed away in August 2022 at the age of 50. In 2025 Mawhoo’s sister Amahle made startling allegations that Naledi had a hand in her mother’s passing.
NALEDI APHIWE’S EMOTIONAL VISIT TO MOM’S GRAVESITE
Naledi began her caption by expressing that visiting her mother’s grave reminded her just how much she missed her, evoking many fond memories.
“Yesterday was your birthday, Mom, and today I came to visit you. Standing here brings back so many memories, and it reminds me just how much I miss you.”
She also opened up about how she is coping with her absence, yearning for a heartfelt conversation or a cozy “warm hug.”
“There are days when I try to be strong, but the truth is that a part of my heart left with you. I wish I could sit with you one more time, hear your voice, tell you about my day, and get one of your warm hugs,” she added.
NALEDI: ‘I’VE BEEN WORKING HARD’
In her lengthy and emotional caption, the Ngiyabonga hitmaker wrote that she has been working hard to make her mother proud.
“Life has changed so much, Mom. I’ve been working hard, pushing through challenges, and trying to make you proud every single day,” she wrote.
“I secured the bag, Mom. I landed big deals with Stumbo, and all I wanted was to tell you first,” she added.
The higher she goes in her career, the more she feels the pinch of her mother’s absence. For instance, Naledi misses the opportunity to share her career milestones with her mother.
“I know how happy you would have been to see me growing, chasing my dreams, and making things happen for myself. Every win feels incomplete because I can’t share it with you the way I used to,” she wrote.
Naledi, who passed her matric in 2025, wrapped up her message by stating:
“I believe you’re watching over me, celebrating every achievement and guiding me through every difficult time. No matter how much I achieve, a part of me will always wish you were here to witness it.”
