7 May 2026 – Members of the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture (DSAC) and the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) visited South African Football Association (SAFA) President Dr Danny Jordaan on Thursday to share some of the plans they have for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Revina Lawrence, Vusi Ngobeni and Yazeed Sadien visited SAFA House and told the SAFA President about the plans they will execute at the three venues that will host Bafana Bafana during the group stages of the global tournament next month. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by the United States of America, Canada and Mexico from 11 June to 19 July 2026.
Mexico will host Bafana Bafana in the opening match of the event at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City and this game will mark the start of the 48-team tournament.
Lawrence and Ngobeni revealed that DSAC and SAHRA will host a South African showcase in Mexico City, Atlanta and Monterrey – the three venues that will host Bafana Bafana during the group stages of the tournament.
The showcase will give the world a glimpse of South Africa through the many musicians, artists from different fields, food, wines and numerous other representatives that make this country such a unique corner of the globe. Braai days will also be held at the three venues. Dr Jordaan said he was happy to welcome the three visitors to SAFA House.
