A CCTV camera has captured a crash on Main Road in Misty Cliffs, near Kommetjie in Cape Town, on the evening of 26 April.
At 18:30, just three seconds after a white sedan drove past the site of the accident, a fully loaded van tumbled into view when it dove nose-first onto the narrow road from the cliff, spilling its load all over the road before rolling over once.
From the back window of the vehicle, we clearly see the driver being rattled inside the car after the dramatic fall, before the car comes to a standstill.

Posted by PrimeTime News on X, the footage shows that once the wrecked van landed on its tyres on the seemingly wet road, the driver hurried out of the car.
It’s not clear if he was wearing a seat belt, but he managed to disembark from the vehicle speedily.
He is visibly shaken by the accident but uninjured, by the look of things.
He walked away from the car to inspect the damage, clearly astounded by his lucky escape.
As another motorist approached from the far end of the CCTV screen, the driver flagged them down to avoid a secondary crash.
It is not clear what caused the accident.
